A refreshening coat of paint

Sometimes all a room needs is a refreshing coat of paint to make it feel so much better. Paint lasts a long time but it doesn’t last forever. And you wouldn’t want it to, otherwise you would never get to experience the joy a new lease of life a tin of paint brings, to an otherwise lack lustre space.

The lobby space outside the bathroom hadn’t been painted for a very long time. It had one dark reddish wall, and the rest were a cream colour. Many years ago it looked great, but now it was long overdue for a change. Having painted the three bedrooms, living room and hall an off-white (Dulux: Antique White USA) the house has gained a beachy feel. The neutral colour scheme made it so much lighter and airy feeling. The front of the house has been transformed. The heavy colours of old were a thing of the past.

With the onset of spring, it was time to continue the painting journey. The lobby space is small, but there were lots of nooks and crannies to paint around, which made it take longer than expected. Two days and a whole lot effort later, it too has acquired that beach vibe that puts a smile on your face. What do you think?

The problem with painting is you just can’t stop until you’ve painted the lot. Only three rooms to go…
