About Me

profileI’m Amanda – the mother of a shrinking family of six. (We are currently down to three.) Although living away from home brings lots of adventure and new experiences, it also leaves behind all things familiar. What do you do when all you want for dinner is chicken pie, and not just any old chicken pie but the one you get at home. And then there’s the curry, the pasta salad, or the cheesecake you always have on your birthday. What you do, of course, is text: can you send me the recipe for… The same request may come at periodic intervals, prompting the response: I’ve already sent you that. Followed by the inevitable: But I can’t find it.

Welcome to my recipe file. A place where our family favourites are stored, to be dipped in and out of whenever a little bit of home makes everything right. In the old days, it would have been a well-thumbed book, with handwritten entries. What’s missing are the tomato stains, notes in the margins, and torn or missing pages. But in essence it’s the same. A repository for the things we eat at home, that we’ve grown up and made memories with.

Welcome to our family!

Thankyou for sharing these recipes. I have tried several and they have proved very popular with the family.

    Hi Amand,
I also cut the pear and raspberry cake recipe from good weekend and have been making it for about 4/5 years it has become my signature cake recipe aka Neil Perry.
My friend decided to make it using stevia(sugar substitute) and olive oil replacing the butter. Well I haven’t tried her cake but it does seem a shocking thing to do. Anyway I was happy to read that you also use this recipe. I will look at your other recipe.
My favourite recipe at present is the Hainan chicken recipe served with chicken stock soup it is so clean and comforting.
    Best wishes christine
